Mia in Honduras
When baby Mía was born in Honduras, her mother, María, was heartbroken to hear that her daughter had clubfoot—and even more devastated when someone told her there was no treatment available. But María refused to give up.
With the encouragement of a friend and the guidance of a Hope Walks parent advisor, she discovered that help was possible. At just one year old, Mía entered the Hope Walks program, beginning her brace phase after receiving initial casts elsewhere.
Mía is the youngest of three children. Her father works hard to provide for the family, and her mother stays home to care for the kids. Though they rent their home and live with financial struggles, they’ve never wavered in supporting their little girl through treatment.
For María, the darkest moment was believing there was no solution. The brightest moment came when she saw her daughter’s feet corrected after the tenotomy. “Finding healing for my daughter has been a great help,” María says, overflowing with gratitude.
Today, Mía wears her braces and is growing strong. Her family now has hope for her future—hope made possible because of generous donors. María’s message to other parents is simple but powerful: never give up hope.
