Frunk in Burundi

When baby Frunk was born with clubfoot, her arrival should have been met with joy. Instead, her father walked away—leaving her mother, Jeanne, alone to raise four children. Some relatives and neighbors whispered cruel lies, accusing Jeanne of unfaithfulness. Others avoided her entirely. With no steady income and no one to lean on, she worked odd jobs for wealthier neighbors just to put food on the table.

Hope appeared in the form of another mother from her neighborhood, whose child was receiving treatment for clubfoot. She introduced Jeanne to the Hope Walks clinic. At first, the casts and braces were intimidating, but the team not only treated Frunk’s feet—they cared for her family’s hearts.

Through her parent advisor, Jeanne heard the Gospel in a way she had never before understood. The message of Jesus’ love and forgiveness pierced through years of pain and rejection. She chose to follow Christ and was baptized in July 2025. “I shared all my past pain and sorrow with Jesus Christ,” Jeanne says. “Now, I have a loving Savior who cares for me and my needs.”

Frunk’s feet are now straight, and she can walk without difficulty. But the impact reaches far beyond her steps. Jeanne has forgiven her husband and those who mocked her, and she now shares with other mothers that clubfoot can be treated—and that there is hope in Christ.

Hope Walks treats babies’ feet, but often the greater miracle is what happens in the hearts of their families.
