Fiston in DRC

When Delphine and her husband, Pitier, welcomed their son Fiston into the world, their joy turned quickly to worry. He was born with clubfoot, a condition they had never heard of before. “I was deeply shaken when my child was born,” Delphine said. “Seeing my baby with clubfoot was a great distress and an unpleasant surprise.”

Thankfully, the midwives who attended the birth referred them to a Hope Walks partner clinic. There, the family found compassionate care, expert treatment—and hope. As Fiston’s feet slowly straightened through casts and braces, Delphine’s anxiety turned into determination.

“The greatest moment for me was seeing my child walk normally and play football,” she said. “It filled me with joy and pride.”

The family’s gratitude grew as they realized the care was free. “It was a real relief for our family,” Delphine said.

Encouraged by the Hope Walks counselors who offered emotional and spiritual support, Delphine began sharing her story with others—helping to break stigma and inspire her community.

“I am profoundly grateful to Hope Walks,” she said. “May God bless you for your commitment to children and families.”
