Esther in Haiti

When little Esther was born with clubfoot, her mother, Stéphanie, felt her world collapse. Her husband had already left, and she was suddenly alone—without a steady income, facing whispers from neighbors who said her baby was cursed or hopeless. “Some people humiliated me,” she recalls. “They said since she was born like that, let her stay like that.”

But Stéphanie refused to give up. One day, a friend handed her a flyer from a Hope Walks awareness campaign. The flyer listed a phone number. Nervously, she called—and that call changed everything.

At the Hope Walks partner clinic, a caring team welcomed her and baby Esther. They explained the treatment and even helped with transportation when travel costs became too heavy. Through the Parent Advisor’s encouragement, Stéphanie found new strength and faith. “I saw that I’m not the only mother with a child like this,” she said. “I was sure my child would be healed too.”

The day she saw her daughter’s foot finally straight, tears streamed down her face. “Finding clubfoot treatment for my child represents a precious gift,” Stéphanie said. “It brings happiness to my life, and now my child can wear normal shoes to go to school.”

Today, Esther walks proudly to class on her own two feet—strong, confident, and full of joy.

Thanks to generous donors, families like Stéphanie’s find more than medical care—they find dignity, hope, and the love of Christ expressed through healing.

Esther has unilateral clubfoot so a cast was only needed on one foot. On the right she wears her brace to maintain correction.
