Enith in the Dominican Republic

When little Enith was born in Santo Domingo, her parents, María Luisa and Juan Luis, quickly learned something was wrong—her tiny foot was turned inward. But unlike so many families who first hear there’s no solution, they were told right away that clubfoot can be treated. That news gave them peace.

Still, the road wasn’t easy. At their first clinic, Enith endured eight casts with no improvement. Her mother’s heart sank—until a kind neighbor told her about the Hope Walks program at Dario Contreras Hospital. There, under the gentle care the team trained in the Ponseti method, Enith received proper treatment, including surgery and new casts. Finally, they began to see progress.

For María Luisa, Hope Walks became more than medical care—it became a place of transformation. During one of the hospital devotionals, she gave her life to Christ. Today, she and her husband attend church together, grateful for both physical and spiritual healing in their family.

Now, at just over a year old, Enith’s feet are straight, her steps are sure, and her parents are filled with gratitude and joy.

Because of generous donors, this family found not only healing, but hope—proof that every gift helps children like Enith walk toward a brighter, faith-filled future.
