Dylan in the Dominican Republic
When Dylan was born earlier this year, his feet were turned inward, a condition called clubfoot. For his mother, Yamaly, the diagnosis did not bring fear. She had walked this road before with her older son, who also had a foot condition, so she researched clubfoot and got to work.
The family found Hope Walks through social media, and in June 2026, Dylan began treatment at Darío Contreras Hospital. Two casts followed, each one gently guiding his feet into shape. Yamaly still remembers the day they removed the first cast and saw his feet, straight at last.
But the biggest change was not only in Dylan’s feet. It was in his mother’s heart.
Alongside the clinical care, Hope Walks offers counseling for the families on this journey. Yamaly speaks warmly of the kindness of the staff. And in one of those sessions, guided by program coordinator Ivelisse, Yamaly received Christ. A visit that began with her son’s diagnosis became the setting for her own transformation.
Dylan’s parents hope simply that he will walk well, wear ordinary shoes, and grow up like any other child. Because of donors who make this care possible, a little boy in is on his way to walking straight and free, and his mother found something she wasn’t looking for on the day she brought him in for treatment.
Two feet. One family. A moment neither will forget.
