Ahadu in Ethiopia

Meet Ahadu, the first child of Hana and her husband, a couple from Addis Ababa whose journey is one of faith, resilience, and hope. Both Orthodox Christians and living with HIV, Hana works as an accountant, and her husband transitioned from a shipping job to become a businessman. Thankfully, Ahadu was born free of HIV.

When Ahadu was born with clubfoot, Hana and her husband initially feared it was related to their HIV status. However, after consulting Dr. Meron at Abebech Gobena Hospital, they learned that clubfoot was a separate condition with a clear treatment path. Their families supported them throughout the process, researching the condition and offering encouragement.

The toughest part was the Tenotomy and the first three weeks in a cast, but the real joy came when Ahadu wore his first brace. Hana’s fears melted as she saw his feet improve each week. The counseling provided by Hope Walks gave them the reassurance they needed and strengthened their faith in the treatment.

“First, I want to praise God for healing my child and turning my shame into joy. I also want to thank the Hope Walks staff for their kindness and dedication,” Hana says, grateful for her son’s newfound freedom and the supportive community around them.

Today, Hana and her family share their story to inspire others, thankful for Ahadu’s freedom from clubfoot and the brighter future ahead.
