Position Title:   Director of Spiritual Integration
Location:  Hope Walks US Office (York Springs, PA), a program office, or remote.  Preference for being based in Africa. 
Reports to:   VP of Programs

Provides technical supervision for Counseling Program Coordinators but no direct reports

 

 Full-time

Travel:   2-4 international trips per year

SUMMARY

The Director of Spiritual Integration will lead and be responsible for the spiritual direction, leadership and discipleship of Hope Walks programs and staff. S/He will play a critical role in the development and discipleship of our global team while facilitating the coordination and standardization of our spiritual ministry and partnerships to proclaim our hope in Christ throughout our program. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Counseling and Ministry Quality Assurance and Capacity Strengthening

  • Provide spiritual leadership that fosters unity across a diverse, inter-denominational global team, ensuring that core biblical truths are communicated effectively to staff and families from various Christian traditions and sustainable spiritual care practices are incorporated into program operations. 
  • Serve as technical advisor to country program staff, regional managers, and global leadership to guide programmatic quality improvement decisions in our counseling and ministry activities using data and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with Counseling Program Coordinators to develop and implement initiatives, strategies and materials for effective spiritual counseling and family support. 
  • Facilitate communities of practice to share learning, solve problems, and promote innovation in counseling and ministry. 
  • Oversee the vision and the role of the Parent Advisor to support, educate, and share the love and good news of Jesus Christ with families.  
  • Identify and champion capacity-strengthening opportunities for Counseling Coordinators and Parent Advisors. 

Staff Discipleship

Identify or develop tools and resources to disciple Hope Walks’ staff, supporting their spiritual growth and personal relationship with the Lord.

Provide strategic oversight and facilitation for staff devotions, curating biblically sound content that fosters unity across diverse international programs and strengthens the collective spiritual health of the global team.

Collaboration and Leadership

Serve as the organization’s lead for the Christ-centered care for families pillar of the 2030 strategy, overseeing our effort to deliver  600,000 spiritual counseling sessions by 2030,  ensuring every family has a clear opportunity to encounter the gospel during their child’s treatment.  Execute annual workplans created under the strategy. 

Represent Hope Walks at international forums, ministry conferences, and advocacy events.

Develop partnerships with national and international mission organizations for effective staff training, evangelism, discipleship, and ministry. 

Monitoring and Evaluation

Develop and refine indicators and KPIs in alignment with approved organizational frameworks to create and implement a robust standard process for monitoring and evaluating spiritual ministry outcomes. 

Explore, implement, and support opportunities for research related to spiritual ministry impact, then ensure learning from research, pilots, and evaluations is translated into actionable recommendations for country programs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required in counseling, biblical studies, theology, missiology, evangelism or pastoral studies. An advanced degree in a similar field is desirable. 
  • Proficiency in English and preferably fluency in at least one other relevant language. French or Spanish is desirable. 
  • Personal faith in Christ and commitment to the mission of Hope Walks.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in ministry. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • International or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Prior supervisory background required. 
Communication Intern

SUMMARY

The communication intern will assist with a number of projects related to producing content to feed Hope Walks’ social media, blogs and other channels. The position ideally will be based in the US office currently located in Dillsburg, PA, but remote options will also be considered.

The unpaid internship is will focus heavily on social media. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of what works in social media and how to take advantage of it to advance the mission of Hope Walks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Produce content on a weekly basis that will be used in various channels of communication, including web, blogs, social media, email  and print
  • Special event support for in-person/remote gala and Hope Hikes
  • Create weekly and monthly social media schedules with both written and visual content
  • Write  two-three patient stories each week for use on website blog

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be working toward a degree in communication, marketing, journalism, English or other related fields.
  • Working knowledge of AP Style preferred
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, tactics and strategies
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills – including the ability to clearly convey and incite passion
  • Some graphic design experience and skills a plus but not required (Adobe Creative Suite and Canva)
  • Strong organizational skills, time management
  • Personal faith in Christ and commitment to the mission of Hope Walks
