Give Monthly. Paint Hope. Change Lives.

The need for clubfoot treatment is urgent.

Every three minutes, a child is born with clubfoot — tiny feet twisted and turned, making those first steps impossible. Yet with early treatment, everything can change. When early care begins (ideally before six months old), clubfoot can be completely corrected for $500, giving a child the freedom to walk, run and chase dreams.

But time is precious. Wait too long, and treatment may require more painful, expensive surgeries with uncertain outcomes.

Your monthly gift steps in right on time — turning fear into hope, and twisted feet into joyful steps toward the future.

PLEASE NOTE: We are only able to ship brace-painting kits to U.S. addresses.

Now, for a limited time, become a monthly donor for a minimum of $20 a month, and you’ll get up to five brace painting kits to paint braces for children currently going through the treatment process.

Why Monthly Giving Matters

Each month, our community of Clubfoot Crew members comes together to sponsor a child’s journey toward freedom from clubfoot. Annually, our 180+ members collectively heal nearly 300 children. As a Crew member, you’ll receive updates that take you step by step through one child’s healing story—from their very first clinic visit to their first steps on straight feet.

Your monthly gift makes this transformation possible—not just for the child you’re following, but for thousands more receiving treatment through Hope Walks. It’s a sponsorship experience that connects your generosity with real faces and real stories, showing you in real time the life-changing impact you’re making.

WHY BRACES MATTER

Clubfoot is surprisingly common—but thankfully, it’s also treatable. With the Ponseti method, a simple series of casts gently straightens a baby’s feet in just a few weeks. Braces then take over the important job of keeping those feet straight and strong.

Children wear their braces full-time for about three months, then only while they sleep until age five. Each child will go through 6–12 braces along the way—each one a step closer to walking, running and living free from clubfoot.

Why your art matters

Your brace painting has two powerful impacts on children:

1. Healing Hearts – In many parts of Africa and Latin America, families of children with clubfoot face stigma and shame, often told they are cursed or at fault. Hope Walks helps replace that fear with truth and love—reminding parents that they did nothing wrong and that God loves them. When their child receives hand-painted braces, they feel seen, valued, and loved. Your art helps heal both feet and hearts.

2. Inspiring Treatment Completion – Kids love wearing the colorful, “cool” braces you’ve painted. That excitement helps them stick with treatment and prevents relapse. Your creativity keeps little feet walking strong!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you track the painted leathers so I receive photos of them?

There is a tracking number on every pair of brace leathers. There is also a QR code attached to every bag. This QR code will have a matching number to the brace leathers. Please scan the QR code on the bag with your cell phone camera and complete the online form. Once submitte, it will link your information to that brace number, and we’ll be able to track them to your email address. If the painter is under the age of 18, please ensure the parent/guardian’s information and email address are used to complete the online tracking card.

We will email you a photo of your completed brace in a few months. If possible, we may also email a second photo with the child wearing your painted brace. Not all mothers want photos of their children taken, and some of the clinics are in remote locations; therefore, we cannot promise a second photo of the child in the brace, but we will try.

If you’re unable to scan the QR code and no one is available to help you complete the online form, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered!

We’ll include a few printed tracking cards in your party box as a backup. While our preferred method is the online form, we understand that not everyone has a smartphone or is comfortable with digital tools.

If you’re using the printed tracking card instead:

  • Be sure to write the brace number (found on the tongue of the leather) in the red box on the card.
  • Place the completed card in the bag with your painted brace leather before returning it to us.

This helps us make sure every brace finds its way to a child—and that you receive a photo of the impact you’ve made!

Do you have an instructional video on how to paint the brace leathers?

Click here or the image below to watch an instructional video.

I have no idea where to start. Do you have examples of other painted leathers to inspire me?

Yes. We have an inspiration gallery of 100 different brace leathers to help get your creative juices flowing.

If you are hosting an event, we have table tents. We will include some in your box of paint kits. Each side of the table tent includes a QR code that painters can scan with their cellphone cameras. One side leads to the inspiration gallery and the other side leads to photos of children wearing painted braces

We will send one for every 10 painting kits. If you would like to print additional for your event, please:

  • Cut them in half (lengthwise)
  • Trim to remove white outside borders (lengthwise only)
  • Fold them in half
  • Fold them on the bottom dotted lines
  • Tape them at the bottom

What age range is best for painters? Can children paint brace leathers?

This project was originally created for adults. However, we recognize that it is impactful for children and teaches them to give back and help others. Almost all of us here at Hope Walks are parents, so we understand and appreciate that heart posture!

However, because these will be actual “shoes” worn by a child, we recommend that the age for painting be 13 and older. If children are younger than 13, we highly recommend that they assist an adult with the adult’s painting kit. That way, they are learning by example, and the adult can ensure that the quality of the shoes is suitable to give as a gift to another child.

Let’s face it, we all love our kids’ refrigerator art, and we save it for years. It is so cute for us and our families to see. However, if your child was born with clubfoot, please think of the quality of shoe you would like for your child to receive.

We’re not looking for perfection, and being a professional artist is not a requirement. We’re just navigating the balance of teaching our children the importance of giving while also giving a child something they would be proud to wear.

If you have children who want to paint but are a bit too young, we also have coloring pages that you can print and send back with your braces:

We will send the coloring pages to Africa when we send your painted brace leathers.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance!

I can't get my paint pens to work. Are they broken?

We will provide three paint pens in every kit that we send. The paint pens will need to be primed before using them. Otherwise, no paint will come out. Don’t worry…the pens are not broken. 🙂 Here is a quick video on how to prime the paint pens. They are double sided, with a thicker and thinner point on each end, so please prime both sides of the pen.

May I use other paint that I have to decorate the brace leathers?

You can use any acrylic paint on the brace leathers. Please do not use other types of paint, as they will not adhere well during the brace-making process.

How do I return painted leathers to Hope Walks?

If you are returning your painted brace leathers within 30 days of your event, and you need a return address label, please let us know. Otherwise, you can mail them to us, and we will get them to a child who was born with clubfoot.
